“Legend Dairy” (2020)

The laughing cow logo and the cream-colored milk haulers with the vintage lettering are a thing of beauty. But Lewes Dairy is far more pioneering than its retro image projects. Launched in the early 1920s, it has grown into a mid-Atlantic institution. It was the first dairy in Lower Delaware to offer refrigeration and milk in gallon glass jugs. In the 1950s, it dotted the Delmarva landscape with Lewes Dairy Markets to sell its products. Its fresh cream and eggnog are considered delicacies that regional chefs swear by. And recently it joined with Hy-Point Dairy to broaden its market with more diverse products. It has become, in the words of Barney Stinson, legen — wait for it — dary. Legend dairy.” — Erick Sahler
