“The Boulevard” (2022)

“In the 1970s, every town seemed to have one. Some were called ‘The Strip.’ Others ‘The Golden Mile.’ In my hometown, it was South Salisbury Boulevard — or just ‘The Boulevard.’ Officially it was U.S. Route 13, and for the mile from the college to the hospital, it was a solid line of restaurants, gas stations and businesses. I was partial to the block with the big neon Arby’s hat. What a thrill it was to see all those colors and shapes and typography jumbled atop each other!” — Erick Sahler
